I graduated with my associate's degree in accounting in 1995. I loved accounting in high school! My dream was to sit for my CPA and work for one of the Big 4 accounting firms, but life happened. I got married and had a baby and was offered a position with a skilled nursing facility in 1997. It was my introduction to senior living.

I worked my way from a Business Office Assistant to Office Manager to Staffing Coordinator and HR Manager. I went back to school in 2002 to finish my degree. I graduated in 2004 from DeVry University with my bachelor’s degree in accounting and business management.

I moved to California in 2005 and was introduced to assisted living. This is where I have spent most of my work life. I love working with the senior population. I was blessed to have my grandparents until I was in my 30s.

Working in this industry has allowed me to continue to have additional "grandparents" in my life. I love hearing stories and learning about what their lives were like. I also love being able to serve my residents. I love knowing I have made a difference in someone's life – whether it was the touch of a hand, a smile, or a conversation. I get to go to work every day and interact with the greatest generation.

I lost my mom in 2020. Working in this industry allows me to help take care of other people’s loved ones that way I wanted my mom taken care of. To me, this is more than a job. At the end of the day, we really matter to the residents living in our communities.
