The Accushield® 5-Star Safety Rating recognizes senior living and skilled nursing facilities that have prioritized health safety and visitor management through the utilization of advanced sign-in and health screening technology. 5-Star Safety Rated communities prioritize the need to identify, track, and screen all visitors, including family members, friends, third-party caregivers, and other vendors. These communities understand the risk that visitors and third-party care providers can pose for residents and staff and have put in place policies to help mitigate that risk. As a trusted symbol of Safety, the Accushield® 5-Star Safety Rating helps communities increase awareness of the importance of safety through defined visitor management, health screening, entry policies, procedures, and systems.

More PhotosChristine Ferguson is honored to be the executive director at the Inn at Garden Plaza. She started her health care journey at the age of 15, as a candy-striper at St. Mary’s hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. While still in high school, she became a certified nursing assistant, where her connections with seniors thrived. She went on to serve in the United States Army as a combat medic, working in the ER at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
After spending time as a hands-on health care provider, she had a chance to help more people by taking on an administrative role. Her first executive director position was at a memory care community.
For more than five years, Christine has been a noteworthy leader here at the Inn at Garden Plaza. She brings to us her experience and passion for helping seniors, which led her into this industry in the first place. She also enjoys baking peach cobbler and apple pie each year with her residents.
Christine’s husband, Jay, is a native of Colorado Springs. They have been married for almost 30 years. Her second love is their 7-year-old, Weimaraner, Bleu. Together, they enjoy camping, biking, hiking and running. She also loves to quilt with her mother-in-law, Judy.
